2009 ASA Men’s Major Fast Pitch Nationals

2009 held at South Bend, Indiana on July 30-August 2.


Champion – Farm Tavern, Madison, Wisconsin
Runner Up – NY Gremlins, Clifton Park, New York


The Farm Tavern lost their first game of the tournament to the New York Gremlins and then reeled off  10 consecutive victories, including two straight over the Gremlins to win the ASA Championship. They set all kinds of records in the tournament as a team, they went 116-307 for a  .378 batting average and scored 90 total runs and walloped over 20 Home Runs in the event.

The Gremlins, led by pitcher Bryan Newton (3 wins) and Bill Hillhouse’s no hitter won the winner’s bracket.

The Farm pitchers Frank Cox and Darryl Tilley combined for ten wins on the weekend. In the first final, Jim Corbett (2 HR), Donny Hale (2B, HR, 4 RBI), Colin Abbott (HR, 2 RBI) and Rob Gray (HR, RBI) combined for 9 RBIs to lead the Farm to a 12-5 win as the team had 15 hits in the game. In the second final, The Farm stayed hot and collected 13 more hits as Colin Abbott, Jim Corbett and Zenon Winters each homered and combined for 5 RBI to back the pitching of Frank Cox in the 8-1 championship game win. Cox pitched the first final as well and finished (6-0) for the tournament. Darryl Tilley was 4-1 for the Farm.  The Farm Tavern players also set multiple individual ASA National tournament records listed above. They had five players with over ten hits.
