2015 ASA Men’s A Slow Pitch Nationals

2015 held at ASA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on October 2-4.

Runner Up – Precision/Easton/Do Chicago, Illinois

A magnificent effort by Tournament MVP Kyle Pearson (Louisiana) lifted ASPNation.com/A&A Utility/KV Weld to a 35-32 win over Precision/Easton/DO in the Men’s Class A Championship Game on Sunday. Pearson racked up 10 RBI on five hits for ASPNation.com, singling in the fourth and sixth innings while sending out two long balls. ASPNation.com never trailed after scoring 12 runs in the first inning on three, three-run home runs, an RBI single by Matt Vern, and a two-run triple by Brian McBryde.

Precision would score three runs in the bottom of the second to cut its deficit to nine before ASPNation.com increased its lead with five runs in the fourth. An 11-run sixth inning helped seal the eventual win for ASPNation.com. Down to their final at-bat and trailing by 17, Precision made the game interesting as the team launched six home runs to mount a comeback. With one out and trailing by three, ASPNation.com turned a double play to end the game.

ASPNation.com went undefeated to claim the title with a perfect 5-0 record while hitting .682 as a team.

2015 ASA Men’s Major Fast Pitch Nationals

2015 held at Brookside Park in Ashland, Ohio on July 23-26.

The Chiefs beat the Gremlins in the championship game, 7-0. Adam Folkard hurled a 1-hit shutout and Nick Shailes led the offensive attack (2 HRs, 3 RBIs). Craig Crawford was 3-3 with a double and an RBI. This was the third straight ASA National Championship for the Hill United Chiefs. Adam Folkard won his 11th consecutive ASA National Championship game as a pitcher.  For the Record, the Chiefs became the first and only team in Softball History to win 3 Straight ASA National Championships and three straight ISC World Championships as well.

2015 ASA Women’s Open Slow Pitch Nationals

2015 held at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Champion: All Armed Forces, Sam Houston, Texas
Runner Up: Derby Girls, Kent, Washington

A 10-run explosion in the second inning helped land the U.S. Armed Forces the Women’s Open Slow Pitch National title.  In a 16-6 win (five innings) over Derby Girls/Combat/Softball.com, each member of the Armed Forces recorded a hit as the team totaled for 18 hits during their offensive fueled victory in Sunday’s Championship Game.  The Armed Forces finished the tournament with a perfect 3-0 record while hitting .573 as a team.

The Armed Forces struck big in the second inning, plating 10 runs in the second on a three triples, two singles and a sac fly.  Tournament MVP April Ortenzo was red hot for the Armed Forces, racking up three RBI on two hits for the Armed Forces. She doubled in the first inning and tripled in the third inning.

Derby Girls looked to mount a comeback in the third inning as three runs would cross the plate, but the Armed Forces would tack on another five runs in the bottom half of the frame to extend their lead.  Down to their final at-bat, Derby Girls loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the fifth, but the Armed Forces defense held strong to get a double play before a groundout to the third baseman brought the game to a close.

Derby Girls earned a spot in the Championship Game after defeating the Askarben Skers 15-4 (six innings) earlier in the day.

2014 NCAA Women’s College World Series

2014 held at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on May 30 – June 5.

Champion – Florida Gators (55-12)
Runner Up – Alabama Crimson Tide (53-13)

The most statistically dominant team throughout the NCAA tournament, Florida beat Alabama 6-3 to sweep the final series and win the first national championship in program history. At times the best team in the country during the regular season and at times a far cry from it, Florida didn’t even need to be at its best Tuesday night to complete a postseason run that proved it deserved to dance with the trophy.

It clinched the championship with Hannah Rogers, who was named the World Series most outstanding player and who throughout the tournament put together one of the most impressive sustained postseason pitching performances of any championship ace in the past decade, watching from the dugout until the sixth inning.

The Gators won despite four errors in the first four innings, 10 percent of the total errors their otherwise brilliant defense committed in 67 games this season.

They got arguably the biggest out of their season, with two outs and the bases loaded with Crimson Tide in a game the Gators led by three runs in the fourth inning, on a pitch thrown by freshman Delanie Gourley, who was five batters into her first appearance in a game since the less stomach-churning surroundings of an NCAA tournament regional at home against Florida A&M.
