1986 USSSA Men’s Major Slow Pitch World Series

1986 held in Greensboro, North Carolina at War Memorial Stadium on September 12-14.

Champion – Smythe Sox, Houston, Texas
Runner Up – Howard’s/Western Steer, Denver, North Carolina

When Smythe Sox played Steele’s Sports in the winners bracket, it was billed as the Super Bowl of Softball. The top two ranked teams in the country squared off and Smythe came out on top by a 20-16 score. Smythe then beat Howard’s 32-13 in the winner’s bracket final. Meanwhile, Steele’s was coming up through the loser’s bracket and look strong like they were destined to play Smythe for the championship. But, in the loser’s bracket final, Howard’s scored 10 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning and eliminated Steele’s 30-28. That put Howard’s against Smythe for the championship. Smythe opened the season with 54 straight wins.
